Perfect for summer picnics, gatherings, and just anytime snacking, charcuterie boards are fun and simple to make. The key to making a charcuterie that is not only beautiful and delicious but also incredibly good for you is using high quality, simple ingredients. Here is a list of my favorite foods to use divided into five categories. I have also added some recommendations of products I personally love and use. You can keep it simple or get as fancy as you like. Happy Charcuterie-ing!
Fruits: hydrating, antioxidants, fiber, vitamins, natures perfect sweet treats for us
- Grapes
- Fresh figs
- Cherries
- Fresh Apricot Halves
- Fresh Picked Berries
- Olives, highly recommend trying Divina pitted Castelvetrano olives
Cheese: deliciously addicting creamy goodness, add variety to your board by including both soft and hard cheeses
- Raw Milk Cheese
- Goat Cheese
- Sheep Cheese
*Cheese often times gets a bad rap when it comes to health.
And while yes there are certain forms that are best avoided,
high-quality cheese can actually be really good for you! When
buying dairy, look for local, organic, and from pasture raised
cows.
Meats: highly bio-available protein, energy, power
- Smoked Salmon, look for one that has no added sugars
- Prosciutto, Applegate is a good brand
- Paleo Valley pasture raised beef and turkey sticks
Nuts: minerals, fiber, buttery and crunchy
- Cashews
- Hazelnuts
- Brazil Nuts
- Macadamia Nuts
- Almonds
- Walnuts
- Pecans
*When buying nuts, always look on the ingredient lists for
added sugars and oils. The best ones will be plain or only sea
salt. You can also buy your favorite types plain and roast them
yourself with fresh herbs, salt, and olive oil for a homemade
medley.
