The new year is a great time to evaluate what it is you really want in life and we at Kirkland CrossFit are here to play a small role in helping you get there. Below are three questions to ask yourself to help you get clear on what is truly important to you this year.
What do I want my fitness for?
If you are a part of our community, chances are you care about your health and fitness. It’s why you show up on a regular basis to move your body the way it was intended to be used. But sometimes we can forget the specific reason for coming in the first place. That’s when asking this question “what do I want my fitness for?” is a great question to ask yourself? Do you want to stay strong as you age? Do you have other things you love to do outside of the gym that you want to stay fit for? Whatever your unique answer may be, take some time to reflect on it and keep it in mind for those days when things feel extra hard in the gym.
How can I focus on my health as a whole?
I’m sure most of us want to live healthy lives with the energy to do the things we love. But health is a lot more than just doing CrossFit or just drinking enough water. True health is focusing on all the aspects of what it means to be human: getting adequate quality sleep, eating real nourishing food, using our muscles and moving our bodies, spending as much time possible connecting with earth. If you feel like maybe something is missing, this is the time you start to prioritize the aspect of health that you haven’t in the past.
How do I reach my desired outcome?
If you want to stay focused on what’s truly important to you this year, then it is going to require consistency over the long run verses perfection in the short term. Which is why you need to set systems in place to help you prioritize your goal(s) even on your hard days and even when the new year’s energy fades away. So how do you do this? Take some time today to identify your non-negotiables, what your top values are, and why they are important to you. Then, figure out if you need any extra support or accountability to help you get there. We may just be a gym, but people come to our community for some pretty important reasons that we don’t take lightly. We love being able to help you regain confidence in your body by improving body composition, or helping you train for something else you love, or just keeping you balanced and healthy. We believe that fitness is a celebration of the human body and we love being able to celebrate that with you!
